I'm about to buy a couple of new Jerry Cans.
I had some of the black plastic Rheem ones that met an unfortunate end about 18 months ago, I was very happy with them.
Since then I have been using some of the red 20l jobs from Bunnings, nothing really wrong with them, except you need to really really tighten the caps so the O ring seals properly.
Is the Rheem product still the best thing availble?
Where is the best place to buy and how much should I expect to pay?

Hi Troppo
Rheem are good but I never thought them the best.
Super Cheap are best for me.
The rheem like bunnings have smaller caps which make screwing on harder - and like fact that there is only 1 cap.
Prefer to carry fuel inside the car here, and Supercheap pass the wife's smell
test whereas many don't.
Brought my at various sales from $16 to $20 each.

I get
mine from Supercheap too.
But try and get the Willow (? spelling?) made ones.
When they are on the $20.00 or so specials.
SC do sell another brand but I think it is a copy of Willow.
As you found, the cap does weep if the container is laid on it's side.
Always stand them upright, or the long side with the opening to the top and they are OK.
Like you my wife has a good nose for diesel, gas and petrol and smells it long before there is a drip. Good early warning system for trouble :o). And these do get her approval.
Don'r know if I am going to get 20 plus years out of them like the metal ones though.
Watch the plastic containers on steel jerry can holders. Not as forgiving as the steel cans to sharp edges. Have had a couple of deep scratches from sharp edges. Touched the holders up with a file and now OK.
The Willow come with an attached pourer that seems to work OK.

Check with your insurer about carrying fuel inside the vehicle!
