Hello all, I'm after any info on lifting my jackaroo, ie
suspension, body lift tire size etc. and also has anybody fitted a lokka lock right to the front diff as my jackaroo has a lsd on the rear. ps. its a 2002 model. Any assistance would be appreciated.

John, you are a bit limited as to what you can do in terms of
suspension lift because of the IFS.
The front can only be lifted 25-30mm before you adversely affect the downward
suspension travel. This lift is done by either cranking the original torsion bars, or replacing the bars with heavier duty ones - a better option IMO.
As the front has a maximum of 30mm, it would be unwise to lift the rear more than 50mm, as the "rake" from back to front would be too great.

yeah, damian is right, they also can experience problems with uni and cv joint wear because of the increased angles. It is worth keeping an eye on the front ride height as they can sag - especially with bars and
winches on them, the easiest way to
check is measure
the gap between the front bump stops, it should be 17 - 18 mm. A friend of
mine has a pajero which he purchased already lifted, but because of the lack of downwards travel in the front end, he always seems to have one front wheel in the air, especially on climbs. Personally i wouldn't go any larger in the rolling diameter of the tyre because first gear low isn't really low enough as standard, and you would only make it worse.

Agree with all this, even without accessories fitted the front bars will sag over time. The dealer is meant to
check and adjust ride height at service time but (in my exp.) they never do. It's a simple matter of jacking it up and turning the big nut at the rear of the bar amidships. The 2002 had the wide track and raised height over previous models as standard. If you have auto or planning on touring you may consider going 245/75's to get a little more under diff clearance. You will need to be rid of the std tyres if you leave tar in any case. The LSD is not a great one, suck it and see. Rear articulation is good, embarrassing some of the big boys, the front will be your problem. I found polyairs gave me a 20mm lift in the rear unladen with 5 psi in the bags (min. inflation) on the earlier narrow track model.

Bill, you're spot on with the tyres - i fitted 245/75 BFG's to replace the Goodyear Wranglers which were absolutely terrible.
I'm interested in your coments regarding the LSD. I have found it to be excellent & all the reports i've read put it up there with the best available.

Damien,
In
mine the LSD took a fair bit of slip to bite. Reports I read at the time in comparo's ('98) said much the same. If you get to drive a Patrol (which has a real tight one) you would notice the difference immediately. Of course some people may think a little more slip is what they want, so each to his own. As usual, my experiences and opinion only.

Thanks to all who replied, I'm still alittle iffy on the lift with handling. I know I'll loose articulation but thought a lokka may make up for that but I've heard good and bad about them. Although the price is right. Thanks again.
