Hi Dave,
Depending on the year/model of your car, the vacuum reservoir could be different, but I ran the vacuum line that went to the solenoid from the pump, over to the dawes valve. Earlier ZD30’s had the reservoir on the motor and later series 3’s had it mounted to the left side. I don’t think series 4’s used one.
I ran the bleed line back to the resonator that is attached to the air filter. The small green damper/filter was then used in the vacuum line and placed near the dawes valve. I did this to slow down the vacuum signal and stop any impurities getting back to the vacuum pump.
All the hoses that I used went to the solenoid, so after it’s fitted there shouldn’t be any left at the solenoid. I fitted a loop and plug to block off the solenoid ports and stop any
debris from getting in.
I ran two hard plastic lines, like the ones you would use on a VDO boost and oil pressure gauge (1/8” or 3mm) through the firewall and into the cab for the needle valve. The small rubber tube slides easily and firmly over this to give a good seal.
I hope this all makes sense, but look
HERE for some pictures of my setup.
All the best and let me know if I can help.
Chaz
