Slip resistant coating for checkerplate?

Hi all.

Has anyone got a good idea for putting some sort of slip-stop coating on checkerplate?

Have the checkerplate on top of my steel sliders, and am constantly slipping off the edge (not much toe room b/w it and the sill). My wife and kids slip more than I do - which means I hear about it all the time. :-)

I have got a stick-on outdoor tread (Bunnings) to put on, say, the smooth steel tubes, but it won't stay stuck to checkerplate on top.

Ideas...?
