3 motorbikes will be riding the CSR Wiluna to well 9,where we will meet up with our support vehicle,an 80 series diesel. We will then push on to Durba Springs for our 2nd nite(about 220k).Given that well 11 is the start of the dunes,is it possible that the cruiser can reach Durba within a day?
Also is it sensible to be going thru these dunes with only one vehicle?
I should also say that our objective is to look around the Durba area and then return to well 9 and out thru Glenayle.
Looking forward to your responses.

Hi Chris. The short answer is that it would be possible to do the 220km, in one day, but I'm glad its not me! Generally on the csr 30kmh is probably about the average speed, so you are looking at 7-8 hours driving if the track isn't too bad. If its rough average speed can drop back to 20kmh though, which makes it more like 11 hours. 2 days would be much better, and a lot more relaxing!

Thanks tim for a realistic response.Bikes can cover so much ground quickly that it's hard to relate to 4wd's at times.Last june we rode from well 5 to wiluna in 4.5 hours and that was with stops at all the wells.
So more time is needed!
Thanks again
Chris

Hi Ellis,we are doing the back tracks from Sth Cross to Mt Elvire,up to Sandstone and then the old track from Sandstone to Wiluna first. As well as some other tracks after the CSR.It's great country, particularly the abandoned stations.
Bikes;Honda XR650,27litre tank
Honda XR630 23 &7 litre
Suzuki DRZ400 TBA.

Chris
A few years back we did the CSR and travelled from:
Well 6 to Well 10
Well 10 to Well 15
Well 15 to Durba
Durba to Well 20 etc.

Whilst we weren't in a hurry we were moving for most of the day.
As you said it is much faster on a bike but I think it would be a damn good drive from Well 5 to Durba in the one day.

Split it in half and it should be good for all the drivers/riders

Regards
Jim
