I am considering purchasing a Garmin 7200 from America on EBay, would there be any problems loading Australian maps onto these?
regards Bill

I recently purchased a SP7200 from GPSCITY in USA and it was delivered 5 days later at the time they promised at time of purchase. Just dealt directly with GPSCITY. others on another
forum have also done the same.
I bought the city navigator 2008 map here in Australia (not any cheaper in US for some reason) and loaded them onto a SD card and it all works fine. I'll also add OXTOPO V2 when it comes out by loading it onto a 2gig SD card.
The 7200 and the aussie maps cost just over $1000 but this depends on exchange rate on the day. Anyway you will get the 7200 for near half cost here in Australia.
I actually support buying locally etc but double price is stretching the friendship
Enjoy the large screen of the 7200 (i had trouble seeing the detail on 4 inch screen of others)

Thanks Alan, did they pre-load any Australian base map or was it still the American map on it.
Did you have any trouble loading on sd card or on gps?

Hullo Bill, I did purchase a Garmin 7200 from the USA, and was happy with the savings. The AU$ is pretty good against the US $ at the moment, got the people at Johhny Appleseed GPS to load the Aus. Map ver.7 for me onto an SD card, works a treat.
Am thinking about loading Tracks4 aust. onto it as
well.
Had to purchase an adapter to fit Oz powerpoints as the yanks have a different type of plug, but that's no hassle.

The sp7200 comes with the USA preloaded and this cannot be changed. If you try you may disable the whole device.
The City Navigator uploads onto a SD card very easily (150MB) and the device detects which maps are available to it.
You load city navigator onto a computer. Select all the maps and then upload to the device (USB cable supplied) to the SD card.
Quick to do and it works
well.
