Hi all and Happy Australia Day
Has anyone had, or know anyone who has experience with the conversions these guys in
Melbourne do to upgrade the mighty Landcruiser to a true 6x6 configuration? Logic would indicate that general manouverability is going to be compromised to a degree. Having the ability to carry loads more easily over difficult ground sounds attractive and some loss of agility may be managable. Not sure of the effects on driveline reliability.

Any (constructive) thoughts appreciated, thanks in advance
Cheers Pop

Looked into MultiDrive 6x6's when we bought two for work. They are a great machine, been flogged up
hill and down dale and still going, so drivetrain isnt / shouldn't be an issue, offroad, better than a 4x4 (in 6x6 configuration, as they do a 6x4 too) with a lot of load on board. Up front, still a 75 or 78 or 80 series so you'll have to live with driving a Toyota.

Bonz, thanks for the reply, and yeah I get the bit about driving a Mighty Toyota (read your rig and profile) Thanks for not turning it into a Tojo v Nissan debate. You said that you are using two for work, do you mind if I enquire what type of work? Your reply brought some positive aspects into their use so your comments on off road ability and the like would be much appreciated.
Cheers Pop

Gday Pop
We had a couple at work (6x4 not 6x6).....not sure who did them, but I don't hve a very high opinion of them. The only plus was the load carrying and stability with heavy loads, but they had a turning circle like the queen mary, and they would have been a comprimise in a lot of recreational off road situations.
I would tend to go for a small 4x4 truck, although the 6 wheelers would be better than a truck on a long highway run.....its a comprimise either way I guess
Cheers Andrew
