I have just been given a Pride battery 70ah. It is fully sealed and I believe that it came out of a goffer. Does anybody know much about these batteries as they are made in the U.S.A.

Was that a golfer or a gopher?
A quick
check on Google indicates that the battery may be from a wheelchair.
Check this site, it might offer some additional info

I must add that this battery is a deep cycle gel-cell and l am hoping that it will be suitable for use in the caravan

It'll be fine for caravan use, although being ex-wheelchair etc it's capacity and lifespan may be reduced. If you paid the usual $20 or so for these secondhand batteries you can't complain.
Deep cycles gels are a bit slow to recharge otherwise just keep an eye on it's voltage during discharge cycles and ensure it doesn't fall below 11V
