Recently had injectors done on the 80 series, cost arm and leg but after the injectors were removed, tested, serviced and refitted I have found my fuel consumption (was 8.75k's to the litre now 8k's to the litre) has increased and it get the kangaroo hops at 1600 to 1800 rpm.(Getting bloody annoying)
Taken back to the repairer he suggests that it has nothing to do with the injectors being serviced but the injector pump (governer within the injector pump) that is the problem.
I find it just a little too coincidental that the injector pump starts to play up straight after the injectors are done.
Feedback would be very appreciated
Thanks
Steve

Where did you have the work done??? interested as Im due to have my injectors done next week.
If you have questions, the lastest 4wd mthly has an article on West End Diesel.. I called them, and being a nuffy on Diesels, they took the time to explain bleep to me..
Id call Devish there and ask his opinion, he has 14 yrs experience, so sort of knows his stuff.

I would also recommend Devesh at West End...he(they) have really looked after me and my Toyota 4.2lt Turbo...carry out all my work and service needs.....suggestion for all...get a dyno done BEFORE you get any work done and then get one after....you will see your $$$$ working for you...no guessing or subjectiveness required...hard cold facts...mind you pretty scary sitting in the passenger
seat strapped to the dyno bed and seeing the speedo at 120k!!!!!!!!
They explain everything and are all a great bunch.

Yeah 120 on its own shouldnt be a prob..we all do that on the move everyday...it was the fact that all there was holding almost 4 tonne of metal in place was a couple of straps (albiet fairly grunty ones) I just had a mental
pic of the wheels 'slipping' off the rollers...grabbing the floor and catapulting me through the back wall :-)

Hi
Aswell as injecters, they would have changed filters aswell surely, so that is a variable aswell. Some guys on the landcruiser list run a lift pump aswell at the tank to help the fuel get to the pump. It assists the pump to give full advance and makes the motor produce as much power as s possible, so might be worth a look. Also, there might be some algai in your tank, so dose the fuel with Nissan fuel treatment, (comes with algai inhibitor) and then change the filter the next tank full. Pull it appart looking for green gunge in the bowl after removing filter.

Yeah have heard of this before. Basically the engine is spinning up quicker and cleaner now that the injectors are atomising the fuel correctly. The tired and worn pump(remember it is the same age as what the injectors were) is having trouble governing the speed ramp up due to it being, behind the eight ball so to speak. It will probably not get better and with the phase in of low-sulphur, you may pay to have the pump reconditioned now sooner than later. Budget around $1000. The suggestion of a before and after dyno reading is also a great way to be able to come back to the diesel
shop and say, hey, since you blokes touched it, it's lost power.Whats going on? They have no excuses, but to rectify the anomaly.
