I respect the right of Hunters to go shooting, after all gathering food is a normal human function.

I also respect the right of people to protest in a democratic society.

We spent the weekend at the Hunting Expo in Wodonga.

The Hunters were lined up to get in and the protesters were there with banners and a loud hailer abusing them. The protesters hurled some pretty ordinary insults eg "You"re murderers and training your Sons to be Murderers".

The Hunters were very restrained and behaved impeccably.

The Protesters also had a banner "BIG GUNS, LITTLE D!CKS"

Well, it had to happen. Some scrawny looking Hunter approached the proteters, unzipped his fly and unfurled a "member" that the CFA could have used to put out bushfires.

He promptly reeled it back in, put it away and announced; "I'm a Hunter".

The Coppers present, to ensure peace, never "saw" a thing, but did they have a grin on their faces.

they were certainly outnumbered! Over 9000 people attended over the 2 days and they will probably need a bigger venue for the next one! Hopefully it will stay in the area and not end up in the city I heard our 4wd club was selling raffle tickets for the 4wd show being held in Albury soon.

Trouble is Rambler that our {previous} govt take very serious note of the BIG MOUTH MINORITY. As they have the loudest voice they get heard way above the Silent Majority.

Wasn't there a saying years ago about the empty pitcher making the most noise?

For various reasons I don’t hunt for food these days but I do shoot pest animals sometimes when I’m bush, rabbits, foxes, feral cats etc.

I also, frequently, get to spend time with inner city soft lefties most of who seem to be against firearms and hunting but most of who also seem to enjoy few things better than a really well cooked quality steak – ideally in an expensive restaurant.

It is the hypocrisy of this which inflames me. Surely a hunter who stalks his prey, perhaps for days, in the bush and kills an animal he will eat which has lived life the way it was intended – has mated, has roamed free, has played with it’s siblings, has not been injected with chemicals both before and after it died, has not been raised in a crate or box in which it could not turn around. Surely he has a far more honest and natural relationship with the animal than the restaurant frequenter who pays some anonymous abattoir to do his killing behind closed doors or the person who buys a steak in Safeway comfortable in the knowledge that the pad in the box will soak up the blood and he won’t need to be affronted by the stark reality of his carnivorous desires.

Give me the hunter any day.

We dont hunt any more either as various govenments have banned everything including shangeyes and firewoks. Will still eat a lot of kangaroo available in coles & woolies. It also comes marinaded and we prefer "Kakado" flavoured. There are others but that is our preference. The meat is actually good for you. Cut it thin and cook on BBQ as instructed and it is is good. It is also very cheap compared to other meats.

Steve, rifles, shotguns and even handguns are NOT banned, you just require a licence and appropriate permit for what you are hunting. Not personally knocking you but your attitude is exactly what the greenies and govt want to hear. It's all too hard, so I don't bother to hunt or own firearms anymore.

Thank you Mike Harding and all the pro hunting group(majority). Most on this forum will know that I do a fair bit of shooting on my travels and I have NO intention of EVER giving it away as it saves me a hell of a lot of money on fresh meat as well as my small contribution to keeping the feral animals under control. Ihave no objection to those against hunting but it should not be forced onto hunters who are not doing anything illegal.
