Looking at installing a
home style lcd TV in our slide on camper, i'm a little concerned that having it fixed to the wall the vibrations will either destroy the internals or the screen will crack. The camper is on a 4wd
Any first hand advise would be greatly accepted.

The vibrations themselves shouldn't be a problem, but if they cause any twists or pressures on the screen it would be more likely to crack. You would need to put it on a surface that won't twist, or have anything pressing against it.
If the vibrations are a concern, you could always put rubber mounts behind it to take out some of the jarring?

This isn't first hand but an idea I have just come up with. I am full of ideas. Some work, some don't :-)
Fit the TV to a frame which is mounted to the cabin wall of the camper. Attach the frame by means of a hinge. Fit two lightweight shock absorbers underneath the frame to take the impact of the vibrations.
Cheers

I have two monitors in my slide-on.
a 30" and a 24" LCD computer monitor. I have fitted those tv arms for the old style crt and put the screens on when I need them. When I travel they are flat on the bed strapped down.
I never would even dream to fix them to the wall when I go over
corrugations.
have fun

Agree with the above , in the van we always just lay the LCD on the bed face down and just slip it onto the mount. when needed, it only takes a few seconds to plug in the leads , or as my mate has done lengthened the leads so you only have to clip it on, depends on the distance .
Cheers Des.

Funny, I was advised by quite a few with TVs not to lay it down. I was for a while but the foot is bolted to a shelf now

not face down .. can rub on the material underneath
I have it face up and have a soft linen over the face
to keep it scratch free ...
good luck
