Hi Folks,
Those of you who are interested I have contacted Uniden again (third time) and they have taken an order for the charge cradle and taken my credit card details. I didn't even have to threaten them, I just fluked getting someone who cared. They promised to post it as soon as it arrives in two weeks so here's hoping.
Still a lot of hassle to get a simple spare part!
Doug

Hope it comes soon for you Douglas.
Saw your earlier complaint , have one myself which I use to charge radio in car with via a 12v lead I made up.
Never really transmitted on high power from cradle for more than a 2-3 seconds and haven't had your issue.
If I did though I would probably quickly wire up a resistor & diode combination directly to the cradle bypassing the internal regulator and use it that way.
Perhaps you could still do something like this with your old one
as a backup charger.
