Don't know about the 4000's but I did my Cibie Oscars with great success.
I had to enlarge the hole for the wiring but the globes fitted straight in no problems.
I'll also second the choice of 4300k over the 6k as the light is whiter with the 4300's.
Fitting HID's is a win all round, less power consumption and amuch better light.
I've done the H4 headlights hi/lo as
well.

I got them from ebay, seller in
Melbourne, great to deal with, a few mates have bought them as
well.
Do a search on either HID H4 or seller id 95soarer.
No connection just a happy customer, he sells a full kit including wiring and relays for the price, think it was $139 from memory. 12 or 24v plus a choice of temps.

I've got a set of 4000's in my shed that I converted to HID about a year ago - was running them on my work Prado. I've got Predators on my Discovery, and find that there is little difference in performance between the converted 4000's (much cheaper) and the Hella Predators.
A mate also has 4000 f's on his Prado which we have converted to HID using the same globes and ballasts that I used in the 4000's.
