More data input needed.
Define "cheap"
Define " clean"
Throughout Oz...a chain in capital cities or regional towns ?

Gday,
Here is an example.

Motel 1 -
Age- Ancient
Clean- a few cockys, full of dust, no pillow cases
Service- as fast as you could drink, great steak sandwhiches at the outdoor bar
Aircon- didnt really work but at least it was noisy
Price- who cares
Did we enjoy our stay- Absolutely
Would we go back -as often as possible

Motel 2
Age- New
Clean- Scared to go in with my thongs on
Service- to your door
Aircon- Icey
Price- pretty dear
Did we enjoy our stay- The owners were aresoles
Would we go back - Not if we can avoid it.

what Im saying is cheap / clean doesnt always make it a good place to stay.

Cheers

Last time I was at Mandorah the new owner was the guy that used to have the lease on the old Darwin Hotel, Mandorah is still standing but the RSoles (CLP GOV) bulldozed the old Darwin hotel.

I have seen the Hidden Valley T.P. but haven't stayed.

Cheers Steve.

We were at Mandorah 2 V8 supercars ago, the bloke running it told me their lease had run out and it was getting dozed to build a resort? I wonder if its still there...how long ago were you there?
I was under the impression the new resort would be finished by now.

Cheers

So I am staying at a well known city hotel in the big smoke at the taxpayers expense. Not cheap by any standard. They look at my clothes as I book in but the card gets swiped anyway.
Bags are whisked away and I am shown the room. It's sterile and 40 floors up, overlooking a motorway.
"And should you require female company, " he winks slowly," you'll find it at the bar downstairs."
It takes me a few mts to devour the mints on the pillow (haven't eaten on flight and taxi trip), check out the mini bar (prices to make you shut it real quickly) and find the light switch for "Ron". It's like a luxury prison cell.
Look at the watch. 6pm. Yahoo! Drinkies and loose women I think. Now to find the bar.
After an hour doing the lifts, wandering around the lobby etc.. I admit defeat and retire to my cell where the traffic noise keeps me awake most of the night. (I live in the country and sirens and squealing of tyres aren't that usual...especially at 40 floors up)
I still don'tknow where the bar was...

Would you recommend this chain ?

I was wearing my best bag of fruit (in fact my only one) and a neck tie (should be banned..only good for committing suicide).
I thought I cut quite a dashing figure...till I got there, looked in the mirror and a lumpy bag of potatoes looked back at me.
Ahhh...sartorial splendour.

The first time I went to a flash restaurant/ reception/ motel thing was my Uncles Wedding. (Where the old man booked a few rooms)
In the morning, on the way home in his car, my old man said"you blokes didn't use anything out of the mini bar did you?"
I asked " what's a mini bar"
He replied "the fridge in your room"
I said " Yeah everything out of mine, yours and my brothers, You were all in bed so I figured if they were complimentary and you weren't going to use them I might as well"

He rung them when we got home and explained what had happened and that he didnt pay for it before leaveing. They hadnt checked the rooms yet but said because he was honest enough to call they wouldnt bill him!

HaHaHa
What a $hiit of a kid I WAS
LOL

The best way to treat the mini bar is to go out and buy a 6 pack of whatever is your poison , take back to room and drink 5 of same ,, at checkout time tick the no mini bar , wait a day or three then phone to see if you inadvertantly left anything behind ,,, not once has any admitted to a surplus in the bar ,,,

But "Sir" Footy, I thought you was a man of dignity & such a place as you described above was only fit for the Governor General & blokes like Kevin 07. Right up your alley I would have thought. LOL
