Anyone used the manual "PUMP N SEAL" system for sealing their tucker? At $50, it reads
well, is compact, and can be carried in the food box.
Seems too good to be true - is it?
The Sunbeam "cryovac" system seems
well accepted, but far less versatile, (and I really don't need another kitchen gadget).
Thanks eh,
Jeff H.

Hi Jeff
Haven't used the pump and seal system personally but when we went to the Cape last year for 6 weeks we had the butcher in
Tully vacuum seal enough meat for 10 people in meal packs (1 pack per day).
We sealed steak, chops, bacon, sausages, pork chops etc... and each pack was a variety of meats
The meat was perfect for the entire time so I think anything that vac seals is a great idea.

Rod,
Did you need to freeze the meat after vacuum sealing (& keep it frozen) or just keep cold?
thanks
David

We froze it and took a pack off the night before (but we were away for 6 weeks)

unless the meat is getting toward it's used by date WHY would you freeze vac packed meat?? Defeats the purpose of the whole thing.
Vac packed meat kept cold
Marinated chicken-two weeks life
Red meat-6weeks life
You may be able to keep it longer but i always play on the safe side with our food.

Just been corrected by director of
home finance, seems we didn't freeze the meat (as this would negate the need to vac seal iT???) What the hell would I know about it.
You can see who does the cooking in our house.

Thanks Rodney.
The question related to performance comparison between manual and electric models. May try a re-post.
Tully eh? The ratbags in the main street? I always left their
shop with a smile as
well as a bag of protein.
Safe travels eh.
Jeff.

When we do the Cape again we will be using the same butchers.
