q1 changing wheels to a set of steel wheels from nissan mags Do i need a new set of wheel nuts to suit sunraiser wheels
q2 tyres have done 65000ks about another 15000 left i reckon rear tyres are worn more than the front at this point is it worth changing front to rear to try for more wear
these tyres are the goodyear wranglers i put on in june 06 and have never been touched since and they are still wearing
well

rear tyres are more susceptible to
puncture, that why I put most tread on back.....silverback

Which is alright off road but if the majority of the driving is going to be on road then I'd want the good tyres on the front for better braking and control in an accident avoidance situation.

Most need new wheels nuts as they have a conical or slopped self centering fit into the steel wheels.
Nissan alloys factory and aftermarket have had a couple of different wheel face flanges , some wheels having steel inserts and some just alloy.
THink nuts are about $8 each from Nissan and I used these as they are lighter than the much cheaper aftermarket items.
In part 2 the wheels should be rotated every 5k or so , so I put them on the front.
On my car I rotate the tyre on the rim as
well

Hi Robin,
I agree with rotating tyres for even wear but why do you rotate the tyre as
well?

Hi Nev
On live axle cars like Patrols the normal rotation stills leaves a bias to wear on the outside of tyres.
Normally I only rotate tyre on the wheel once when its getting later on in its life and it becomes obvious that tread is not as thick on outside as per inside , usually balance them at this point as
well.
I had 100,000km on my Patrols 235/85/16 toyo opats before I retired them to my trailer , so it works for me.
