Hi ExOzers,

Does anyone know if Optus/Aurora have changed the free-to-air sat TV system in recent weeks? Our system was working fine before we went to FNQ in mid-Feb.

But yesterday when I set it up again it doesn't want to play the game, despite excellent signal strength and 'quality' readings.

Hi George,

As said earlier, signal strength and 'quality' levels are strong, the station lists appear as normal and when selecting a station, the program title appears for a moment - then the dreaded "scramble channel" appears, as if the card has lost its marbles

As per later posts, I'll leave it on for 24h+ and see if it sorts itself out.

Had the same incident a while back. You just need to leave the connection up for a couple of hours. ABC and SBS will come on once they see that you are using it again. No problems after that.
From memory I was told that 2 weeks of inactivity and they automatically cut out.

You will have to contact Seven Central and Imparja to re-activate their services.

has taken up to 24hrs to re-activated, so leave it on a bit longer than a couple of hrs

Do you have a genuine optus card as our silver/gold card seems to be turned off too.

Have ordered the new white card but will also try leaving system on for a while, we also have not used the system for some months after changing the set top box to the strong 12volt series.

Hi TW,

"Do you have a genuine optus card as our silver/gold card seems to be turned off too" I refuse to answer that question o the grounds that it may incriminate me... Would you be able to email me direct with details of the "white card" (where, how much), please?

Optus did an key roll last week that would of knocked an illegitimate card out!
Prob time to think about buying a legit card as Irdeto1 cards days are numbered.

Does white card = legit Auroa I2 card?

Thanks for the info, Leroy.

Can you tell me what Irdeto1 and I2 cards are and do, please?

This issue of 'legit' cards etc. is one I feel strongly about. This is a case where the law is indeed an ASS.

When we bought the system, all states free-to-air channels were fully available with no 'legit' cards or anything else required. Then, after thousands of travellers have equipped themselves with systems, some bureaucratic bufoon decides "thou shalt not watch eastern staes channels in the west and vice versa"

What a load of cr*p! The satellite is contnuously transmitting all the channels to the entire footprint area and, for crying out loud, it's only FREE-to-air channels anyway, not Foxtel or Austar!

What possible public and/or commercial interest is advanced by forcing travellers to jump through these stupid bureaucratic hoops whenever they wish to travel to/from the west?

Want to know what I really think of these laws??
