Burnt out Durba Dunny on the C.S.R.

Have confirmation now that the dunny at Durba Springs on the C.S.R. has definitely been destroyed, therefore if you are visiting this pristine area (this season) PLEASE make alternative arrangements for your toiletry needs at this location or maybe you could put "it" in your pocket and take it with you. Please keep this area clean and free from contamination so future generations will be able to enjoy it as we (all) have done.

Was it vandalism or a natural fire ?

I cannot see one of the 4WD travellers on the CSR destroying it .

Thanks ,

Willie .

That's a real pity. It's a shame to see the work of volunteers destroyed in any circumstance, but to see it occur in an area where the complications involved in achieving such an installation are so great is even worse.

I can't recall which club had been responsible for it's installation, but maybe a call for donations to get it reinstated would be a good start.

David, Michelle, ... are you out there listening? Maybe between EO and Westprint with their coverage of the off road community we could substantially fund a replacement. It wouldn't take big donations if lots of us kicked in.

Dave ,

If you replace it , the same people would probably burn it out again .

At a guess , I would say it has been done to deter visitors ( as opposed to deturd visitors ! ).

Most likely a campfire which has got away or a lightning strike starting fire. It is too far for idiots to drive to this place.

I have never camped there as it becomes too crowded even for such a remote place.

Who said that the dunny at Durba has burnt to the ground?? Yes, I agree steel does not burn but wood and plastic does and also the heat was so intense that you may "remember" the last time that you were there sitting contemplating at the "business at hand" you had your dainty little feet on timber floor with a concrete covering and drrrrrr the timber has disappeared from the floor also the door that you closed so that no one could see your little bits was wood too and surprise, surprise that has gone too!!!! All the "under workings" that collected what you were "leaving" was plastic, and guess what that burns as well.
