I am amazed, picked up an 80lt Eva Kool ice box and put about 150mm of crushed ice in the bottom and it been in the ute for 6 days and still has ice in it and I might get another 2 days. The weather has been about 25c each day and I did not precool the box.
Thats the best cool box I have ever had.

They make great fridges too.

Based on their ice boxes with fridge unit added.

The rig is no cost to run, another benefit is if he breaks down I can eat him and just catch another one, cant do that with Toyota or Nissan.
The last camel trip was about 485km in Gibson Desert over 28 days.
On the twelfth day I gave him a 20lt jerry can of water then he did not need a drink till the 28th day. Water was free and he grazed along the route.
The way things are going with fuel cost, we might all be travelling this way soon.

I've got an Evakool E65 Esky which I've had for over 10 years - can't remember the price but it was less than $200. I freeze a 10L bottle of water for a month and use it as my 'ice'. The long term freezing means that it takes longer to thaw, especially in the middle and even with a 20- 30 percent thaw it still delivers the same temperature for well over 8 days inside my esky. This is testimony to the insulation properties of this style of esky and to Evakool itself. To have one with a compressor attached (a fridge/freezer) - why would you need a dual battery system unless you were in a very warm climate.
