Most people who I have spoken to seem to do between 30k & 40k.

You could easily do a lot more than that.

karlt

Yeah, agree more with Doug. Most I speak to say about 20 odd thousand k's for a lap, sticking to main roads.

But like Duncs suggested, 30 or 40 thou wouldn't be too difficult to accumulate if you done heaps of side trips to out of the way places.

Cheers, Trevor.

You are spot on Trevor,

We went around in '04 and did 40000km mostly sticking to the coast with detours to anything interesting inland.

At this stage someone normally says its shorter to go anti clockwise as opposed to clockwise . 700km , LOL.

Glenn.

Been around twice. Started on the NSW Central Coast, scampered through QLD and started touring after Katherine and after touring WA came directly back from Port Augusta. Both times we did about 14,000 towing and 22,00 total. I can easily see over 30,000 if you tour the whole way around the coast.

Gooday Karlt and we have done the trip twice so have looked up our diaries for both. We live near Rockhampton in Qld and departed from there on both trips. On the first in 2002 we travelled in a bit of a figure eight by going to Canberra, into Victoria , South Aust then up the Stewart to Darwin then down the west coast Esperance then across the Nullarbor, back to Pt Augusta then to Broken Hill, up the Darling to Bourke then across to Moree and Brisbane then home. This was in in a Mazda Bravo B2500 dual cab towing an Aussie swag Camper
Total K's 28,402
Fuel usage 3,900 litres or 13.73 l/100ks
Fuel cost $3,689.77
This took seven months

Second time in 2005 in a TD 4.2 Patrol Cab Chassis towing a 16 ft Pop top van and went west via Longreach to Darwin then down the west coast and had a better look at SW W.A. then back via Vic and western NSW and home via Toowoomba.
Total Ks 24,659
Fuel usage 4000.18 litres or 16l/100ks
Fuel Cost $5408
This run took five months.
As has been previously stated, the distance can vary considerably depending on Route and side trips taken.
