G'day folks, hoping for a bit of advice here... I am in the process of fitting a glind to my 78 Troopy, and things are getting pretty tight under the bonnet! Does anyone have any recommendations as to where they fitted the heat exchanger - Ta in advance!

There is normally enough space to bolt it horizontal to the firewall above the engine using the 2 existing bolts & this allows an easy connection to the heater hoses being so close.
Water pump is best mounted as low as possible like inside the bull bar to help with suction out of creeks etc.

On my Turbo Diesel Troopy, there is no space under the bonnet to easily attach it so we have in on the inside of the Chassis just about under the driver.

I wrestled over where to fit mine and are pretty happy with the result. Happy for you to have a look if you are in Melb.
Basically it is mounted in the front LHS behind the headlight running vertical. This gave good hose access to the heater pipes and also enabled the pump to be mounted off the inner guard just beside the heat exchanger. The inlet is located just below and in front of the LHS guard and the outlet is straight off the heat exchanger to the shower head. Hope this helps. Cheers

Gil,

I have done the same as Leigh. I made up a bracket and mounted the hear exchange vertical behind the passenger head light.

I have the pump on the end of a long hose. The pump goes to the river and pumps the water to the vehicle.

Many thanks one and all for your replies. Space behind pax headlight already has a compressor so will give the bulkhead idea a go over the weekend!
Cheers,
