Hello learned forumites, I have a Jackaroo, '99 T/D fitted with 245/70/16 all terrains on 7x16jj rims.
I also have a set of 6x16jj rims and some 225/75/16 tyres.
I am after information on the legalities re. insurance on fitting the 6" rims with the 275/75/16 tyres to save the good all terrains for trips.
The BFG site ( bugger , mentioned the brand, LOL) says the 225/75/16 can go on the 6" rims.
Cheers and thanks in advance,
Willb

Somehow I don't think you'd get 275's on a 6" rim. . . . . (Looks like you meant 225 after re-reading your post)
I looked into the same thing with my Bravo, and was told 235 was as wide as that particular fitter would put on. . . . I ended up going to 15" rims with 30x9.5's as the package of 5 wheels and tyres was cheaper than getting just 4 16" tyres. Now have the stock rims and tyres as well as the little chubby ones. . . .
Cheers

Hi Wetty, thanks for the reply. Sorry I did mean 225/75/16.
The question allways seems to be "how wide or big can I go" rather than can I go smaller/narrower ?
I'll have to try wading through the RTA website to get some more info.
Cheers,

I think i understand what you are asking,i have 225/75 on 6" Prado rims on my Hilux and am quite happy with them, dont change gearing etc, same roling diameter, didnt want wide tyres, the are a little wider than stock but not 265's or 31's,would like to have 235/85 but warned not to on 6" rims.

Thanks sfletch, I just want to make sure I dont give the insurance company any reason not to pay out if an accident occured.
