warbo,

Are you running two sets of spots or one? If 2 sets you are better running 2 toggle switches one for each set, toggle 1 going to s1 then L1 to one set of spots. Toggle 2 to S2 with L2 going to the second set. You could use one toggle to operate both sets at once (or one spot from each relay) by just using a jumper lead across S1 & S2, of cause the wire to the toggle switch will come from your high beam then to S1/S2

throw that spot relay away use a simple 5 terminal bosch type (far simpler to wire up . but you can use the other type as well

take wire from the centre terminal to toggle switch
fromthe other side of toggle switch to s1
earth s2 (i think) if i remember correctly

Red with yellow trace is the switched negative supply on the left and right hand light that turns on high beam.

Black is positive on the right hand light and red is positive on the left hand light, both the black and red wires have power all the time.

If you were to use a standard mini 4 pin relay you would connect the red with yellow trace to pin 86 and the red or black wire to pin 85 of a relay, pin 30 via a 20 amp fuse to the battery and pin 87 to the positive of the spot lights.

As Patrick said join S1 and S2 together and connect it to the RED or BLACK wire on the back of the headlight (RED left hand headlight and BLACK right hand headlight).

Connect the S terminal to the RED/YELLOW wire at the back of the headlight.

B to battery via a 20 amp fuse.
S to RED/YELLOW wire at back of head light.
L1 to positive wire on one of the spot lights.
L2 to positive wire on the other spot light.
S1 & S2 can be joined together and connected to EITHER the RED wire on left hand headlight and BLACK wire on the right hand headlight.

If you want to put a switch in you will have to put it in the wire that goes from terminal S to the RED/YELLOW wire on the back of the head light.

Most of the times when we install spot lights we don't fit a separate switch to turn them on and off...just another thing to go wrong and extra work for something you may not use.

Don't forget to earth each spot light.

Regards Richard

Autosparky, Thankyou for your help as I just hit the computer I also read Richards thread, went out to my ute. Where I went wrong was I had S going to earth instead of through my switch via red yellow wire. Thankyou all for your help. Nice rig Richard. What beach were you on? Looks good. So how do I close this thread??

The photo was taken half way between Goolwa and the Murray Mouth.

You don't need to close the thread...it will stay here for ever (or until David cleans out his server) and end up like every other wed site.
