Hello we are heading to the Cape end of June and just wondering if anyone has recently visited Chilli Beach? Just wondering how much time we should allow ourselves to get there after leaving
Seisia on the way back
home?

just to give you a time reference, we drove from pennefeather river stopped at
weipa for atleast an hour and camped the night at cooks hut (didn't quite get to chilli beach) in 1 day and then when we left we got from chilli beach to musgrave station (looked at the old gold
mine ruins on the way out and stopped at archer river for a famous burger for lunch) on the way
home in 1 day. the road out to chilli beach has alot of small creek crossings which slow you down alot, you just get up to speed and then have to go back to first or second gear again to go through another
creek crossing. we spent a couple of nights camped at chilli beach, is a very nice spot to kill off a few days relaxing. if you don't look like making it to chilli beach in 1 day then there are a couple of campgrounds to stop at along the road out there (cooks hut was one of them), nothing spectacular, but a safe place to stop for the night. it's
well worth the drive out to chilli beach.

sorry, that was back in 2006. everyone was saying you couldn't get into chilli beach at the time cause it was still to wet, only the last klm was muddy we found. also rained the night before and morning that we left, made the first hours driving out very slippery in
places and you just slid down hills in the wheel ruts, no real vehicle control and that was in 4wd, other then that it was an easy drive in 2wd.

Thanks for the
feedback - we weren't sure how many days to allow for this section of the trip. Will definitely add your suggestions to our itinerary. Cheers

I've driven from
Weipa to Chilli Beach on the French track in a day...easily. The day included getting bogged in a clay creek bed.
