I look at it this way, its the owners right to control what is on this
Forum, if things dont come under the Guidelines Umbrella, and I know
they give a fair bit of license to this, Advertisers pay a fee to advertise
and they would be upset if others get it for free.

Thats fait to say if they are trying to sell something but when they are offering advice on things thats slighty different.....

Would it be tolerated if Kev (or anyone else having no previous employment with any of them) put a web page together offering info on different companies fuel specifics etc .....and which car performs better with certain brands of fuel (which we all know happens)?????????????? It is information which has been put together over a period of time to help others, not to make money.

I agree with what your saying, and the Gentleman concerned, did
provide a tremendous amount of information free.

There is a difference between what Doug did and others that blatantly abuse the forum to self promote, Paul Grabonski being one of them.

Doug had nothing to sell, I have seen him and his passion in finding and offering researched info, As I have said before, on now deleted threads Doug did nothing wrong he volunteered a substantial part of his own time to give people that use this site quality info, he put it all on a non profit web site for all to use for free, I have said it before and I will say it again IMHA he was unfairly treated in the first instance, (having his post removed).

Far more people abuse this site for personal gain without so much as a warning far more people abuse this site in other ways EG: start slanging matches, Troll the site to provoke argument, Starting O/T threads that are controversial or promote their business using their business name as their user name, if only the moderators sorted these problems as quick as they did with Dougs post, it wouldn't be seen as a double standard.

Anyway Doug had a lot of support from Paid members and Advertisers something I think shouldn't have been ignored.

Moderators are a bit like football umpires. They don't, and can't possibly, get it right every time. Football players do not leave the game because one decision went against them.

I've had posts deleted that I thought were OK and on other occasions I have posted some absolute tripe that has been allowed to stay.

Doug got miffed because of one deleted post and took his bat and ball and went home. Was the deletion fair? I have no idea.

According to David he breached the terms of use. I'll take David on his word; I've had some strong disagreements with him, but like men, we have sorted them out and this forum has been very good to me, both on an informative and business basis.

Basically Doug had a tanty and ran home to Mummy. A bit like Ricky Ponting deciding to give away cricket because he copped one bad decision.
