Spotty connection

I've noticed a multitude of empty plugs under the bonnet of the 80 series GXL 'Cruiser, I'm assuming that the harness must be a one-harness-fits-all or something. Would one of these empty plugs be for a spotty connection? Where is the best place to pick up the high beam for the spotty relay, I'm hoping I don't have to attack the loom with pliers and soldering iron, a plug and play option would be neater!!
Cheers

The harnesses are usually standard and dont have too differing setup from each model, but Im pretty sure that there are none out there that have spotties as standard. There would be fog light wiring but as these dont dip or arent designed to carry a spotlight load they would not be suitable.
I like to take my sense wiring off the back of the headlight. It is always close to the battery and by mounting the relay up there too, it keeps the wiring short and where it needs to be. Also because the wiring is already exposed it saves cutting into plastic shielding and heaps or electrical tape. Nice simple neat and short!

goodluck!
Matt.

mrdesmo,

I have a std 80 series 1HZ and my autoelec tapped into the power box that's located on the drivers side under the bonnet about half way along. There is three outlest from memory - constant power, ignition and accessories where you can undo a screw and fit a wire to it. The constant power is what he hooked into and then I think he cut into the loom for the high beam connection

mrdesmo,

I take the sensing wire off the back of headlight, as Matt said. The supply for relay needs to come off battery positive to reduce any voltage drop. Use 6mm cable from battery to relay, then at least 4mm to each driving light. Any of original harness wouldn't be big enough to run spotties.

To run off back of headlight, you can use one of those crimp connectors, that has male end, bent in middle, with female and crimp end at other. bit of fiddling and it will fit.

Hooroo...
