A few weeks back, I posted about a problem my LC 100 had developed with the central locking system. Basically, it would unlock but would not lock (either from the remotes, the keys or the inside switch.
Toyota have had it for a full week and have fixed the problem. It was a burnt out relay, as many people had guessed.
Why did it take a week to repair? Because to access the relay involved, the dealer told me they had to remove the entire dash, the aircon and the heater box. Fortunately, it was all done under warranty.
(Just posting this in case anyone else has a similar problem.)

Gee, can you imagine having to PAY for that remove and replace of dash etc!!!! To replace a $10 part...
Thank goodness for warranty!

Mate's a mechanic, and had two 100lc owners tell him they wished they'd stuck with the 80 series. Apparently the 100s have their puter in a different spot and are prone to lot's of leaky water - ouch. That's one complaint. Yep, I'm always landcruiser but like your rusty rear window there's a rusty computer in the latest tojo.

Funny that you guys should mention the difference.
Why does the 100LC has 5 studs while the 80LC has 6 stud on the hubs? Has the legendary Land Cruiser lost it's Heavy duty capabilities?

Forgot to mention that my 100 also had a bad leak. The dealer, while tracing the locking fault described above, reported that there was water under the carpet in the passenger footwell. Later, found water in the jack compartment.
The fault was traced to improper sealing on the passenger side of the dealer-fitted roof bars. To rectify, they resealed all six mounting points and have reported that there are now no water leaks from the roof.
