Hi all,
I am travelling down to explore Dunn's Track next week, leave the day after Boxing Day.
Pretty much using the trip notes on here and one from Western 4WDriver from a few years ago and following my maps.....
Will let you know how it goes and will post a plot file if required.
Regards
Dave

Hey Dennis F.
I think I may know you from my 4WD Club.......(4WD Club of WA)
if it's the right Dennis then you will also know me from the club (was the Trips Committe Chairman)
I guess I may see you on the Track then as I will only be 1 day behind you....then again the track is quite small!!!!
I am actually recce'ing it to do it later in the year as a club run,
Dave O.

Dennis
Just be prepared for plenty of scratches. From
Peak Charles through to the
rabbit proof fence there are literally kilometres of scrub that reaches onto the track.
Be aware of the track that goes straight ahead at one point with a
sign saying Fields Road - Peak Elenora 3km. From what we could work out that was a dead end track. We went to the left there and came out ok.
There are a few good
places to
camp along the way, depending on how far you want to drive. Moir Tank and Rock was good for us, but we had rain for a couple of days. We camped further along at the top of a
hill, but cant remember exactly where is was. If I wasnt leaving home in the next 10 minutes, I'd look up the GPS point, but just checked on OziExplorer and it was to the south west of Oldfield River. Quiet spot on top of the
hill (north side of track) Plenty of room to
camp with a bigger group for your trek later.
We spent three days out there, but it all depends on what you want to see. We went in October 2007 and there were still enough
wildflowers around for us to get out regularly.
Just watch the burnt out sections, as there are some bad stakes that take out sidewalls.. I know from experiencing one!
Have a good trip.
