Cameron's Corner

I am planning to travel from Charleville to Cameron's Corner in April/May 09 and then on down the Strezlecki track. Can some-one give me an idea as to the best route to travel please?

Thanks Alan and Des

I was thinking of crossing from Noccundra to Innamincka so that we could see the "Dig tree". But I was worried about crossing the Cooper creek and other water ways in the area. Have you any thoughts on that.

Theres a nice bridge at Nappa Merrie, so it's not a problem. Dig Tree is near Nappa Merrie on the north side of the creek.
There's a causeway at Innamincka that is almost always passable.

Hi We came home from Emerald that way in 05, Charlyville , Cunnamulla, Thargo, and turn off at Nockatunga and down to Cameron Corner , then over to Merty merty, and down the Strez,
It,s 237ks from Nockatunga to C/corner , not too bad a road took us 3.5 hrs , not towing.
Cheers Des.

G/D,

did you check the trek notes for Queensland. There are a couple of itineraries and routes in there that may give you a few ideas.

Cheers. Mick

If you want to go to the DIG tree, go straight ahead at Noccundra. The bitumen runs out near Jackson oil field and the road onto the dig tree is ok.

To cross the Cooper there is a high level million dollar concrete bridge so no worries.

Once at the dig tree, Innamicka is just down the road. If wanting to go to cameron corner and down the Strez then there is the Bore Track from Innamicka down to Cameron corner and then come back over to mert merty to get back to the strez. These are all dirt roads but usually ok. Bore track costs and need permission of owners.

Get a good map (like Hema) of the area to make planning easy and usefull to find your way on the trip.

Hi Alan H

That is exactly what I wanted to know. I have read the trek notes on the bore track. It was the area around the Cooper that had me worried.

Thanks to all
