Crankscapers? I had never heard of them but my rudimentary 4WD knowledge was aroused:

Anyone had experience with these devices?

Deeno,
This type of stuff has been around for years.
As someone who works in the engine building art so to speak, there isn't much to be gained unless it is a full blooded racing engine that spins at over 6000 rpms.
the windage that they alude to will have very little drag effect on your engine considering its application. Just remember this that some manufacturers rely on this cyclone created in the sump to do its work oiling, crankcase breathing etc. Its a lot of effort and cost for very little gain if any, but if you are chasing HP every little bit counts.
cheers geoff.

Interesting Deano, my rudimentary mechanical knowledge just increased a bit.
I don't like the idea myself of reducing the amount of oil cloud around the crank and piston walls, not good for longevity. Still a good link nonetheless.
Cheers

I figure from well earned experience in my youth, you want more grunt, get a bigger motor... Far cheaper in the long run! Less fun though...
