Well done Maxtrax for making another Australian product for the world market. Those that have been watching the Dakar will notice that they have been widely used in episode.
Those that have knocked them in this forum will now have to eat humble pie!! They would not use them in such an event if they were no good.

Well done Maxtrax and another Australian invention to the World.

Cheers

Well Stephen I will not be eating any pies, have used Maxtrax in mud and they are useless, we smashed 3 sets to pieces, they are only good when they have support under them as they would in sand.

Hi Rossco,
You must be doing something wrong, because they are designed to be used in any situation where your vehicle becomes bogged. To ruin 3 sets would surely ring alarm bells. Were you going slow the way they tell you on the instructional DVD? I would say that it comes down to driver error and then blaming the product. Any product that is used in one of the hardest vehicle rallies must be 100% reliable, and to see them used by more than one team would tell any viewer that they have been tried and tested.

I suggest that you contact Maxtax, as they would like to hear of you trouble to see if it is driver error and not knowing how to use them correctly? If you ruined 3 sets, you would have had an expensive repair bill, as if I lent mine to a friend and they ruined them, I would expect them returned in the condition that I lent them.

Cheers

Anyone would think Stephen has shares in Maxtrax.

Did you ever consider the conditions and circumstances may have been such that it may have ACTUALLY caused product failure and not the user.

The mud may have been so soft that the weight of the vehicle was too much for the plastic trax without solid support like sand.

We're all sure they work great in sand.

Hi Wizard 1
Firstly I do not have any links with this great Australian Company, nor do I have any shares. Any product that is made by man can have defects and could possibly fail. I would find it very strange that 3 sets of Maxtrax were damaged if the instructions were followed correctly. I do not know where you get the idea of they only work in sand from!
When you purchase a set of these great Aussie invention, they give you a DVD that explains how to uses them correctly, and it clearly shows that they can be used in any situation where your vehicle becomes bogged, whether it be sand, mud, snow, hung up on rocks on a water crossing etc. Without knowing of the conditions that Rossco claims ruined 3 sets of Maxtrax, one would like to know just how bad it was.
If the mud was that soft his car could have been stuck hard and fast (not bagged) and even the best of winches would struggle in the right conditions. I have seen a vehicle stuck (not bogged, there is a very big difference) in almost quick sand conditions that required 3 vehicles with winches and many hard and dirty hours to extract. In this situation, it is fair to say that the Maxtrax would not have helped, as the vehicle was down in the mud to the floor pan, and that amount of suction on the vehicle would have been huge.

I stick by my worlds and credit where credit is due and they would not use them in the Dakar if they were not up the their expectations.

Cheers

Yes good thing for some but Too bulky for me - I am happy to do a stint on the shovel and find a few chocks while we are having a cuppa. What the winch can not do, maybee should not be there in the first place. Never used them yet and have got out of all situations we have been in, some of them a dandy too. Cheers Tony

I have a set of MaxTracs.. have used them in very soft mud to extract my D3.. they seemd to work very well. Mine aren't made of plastic though, they are some kind of nylon material. Extracted the car, got the bloke behind me out and away we went.. love em.

Cheers
