Can you copy the City Navigator map set from a Garmin Nuvi 250W to the computer and then use it in Garmin Mapsource?

Cheers

But you can get free Australian maps 'Open Street Maps Australia', for Mapsource. I have a system like that that works in NZ and also works on my Garmin 200w.

Mapsource is only a program that allows access of City Navigator on a PC/Laptop.

When you open Mapsource if you only have the one map (City Navigator) installed then that's the one that opens on the screen.

What are you trying to achieve ?

If it's real-time mapping off your laptop then download nRoute from Garmin. It's free and allows you to navigate off the laptop screen.

Hi - the Nuvi comes with City Nav maps preinstalled. The question was can these be downloaded from the NUVI to PC and viewed with Mapsource. Answer is no as far as I know (though there is probably an illegal "hack" out there). Obviously if you had the CD version of City Nav loaded on your PC it could be viewed with mapsource/nroute but this is not the case in this instance.

Thanks for the replies. Not really wanting to do much with it except have a play around with it. It would be good to have a copy on the computer for reference purposes.

I use Mapsource all the time, you can move the mouse pointer around until you get the exact Long Lat them select the google map view to make sure you've got the right spot, make a way point and then send it to your GPS. Its fantastic if you've only got the Lat Long positions.
