Hi.
My WA vehicle registration expires end of March. I'm travelling east on a 4mth holiday, leaving beginning of Feb. I can't pay my rego earlier than mid Feb and therefore cant get new sticker before we leave. DPI tell me there is nothing they can do.
What do others do?

G'day mattjack, you can pay for it on the internet & get someone to foreward label on, or you can get bye without a label as long as it's paid, alternatively you can leave all the paperwork & payment with someone & they can go to DPI to pay then foreward your sticker to any PO, dingo

Perhaps ask whoever is collecting your mail whilst you're away to forward it on to an address in the east. Then pay by phone and whack the sticker on.

If it's Melbourne you're coming to, you're welcome to use my address.

Cheers,

Jim.

I had to go from Perth and live in Canberra for 12mths - paid over the net and had the sticker sent to me. Then I went on holidays for 6mths from Perth - same thing........paid it at an internet cafe place in Port Augusta and picked the sticker up a couple of months later from a mate in Canberra when I visited. Not a problem really. rgds
Slow down and relax......

In WA you can get pinged for not having a current rego sticker on your windscreen . My young bloke got done for it. Not sure about other states.

A little subtlety here in NSW at least is that your rego and licence renewals can only be posted to your address held by the RTA. Therefore if you get Aust Post to forward your mail to your kids etc Aust Post are not allowed and do not forward those renewals. The two solutions are to either get your mail picked up from your mailbox or get your address changed at the RTA before you leave.

Hi Stretchlizard.

A couple of days ago I phoned the RTA with the same question.

I was advised to have my mail redirected where it could then be sent on to me.

Of course I had to pay my green slip and get a roadworthy certificate and then pay my rego by internet.

I left on a 2 month holiday on 31st July last year from NSW with rego due in September.
Rang the RTA.
Told I could pay early.
Got a gren slip week before 31st July and paid at Erina, and got sticker then and there.
No hassle.

Just get someone to open your account and give you the account number.
Then just pay it over the phone or on the internet.

My caravan lic was due in August and we were leaving in May, well before the licence renewal was issued. I went into our local licensing agent (in our case the Shire office), who was able to accept payment and issue the sticker and associated papers.Too easy.

I know this doesn't help you but here in SA you can pay your rego at any time. So if you are about to leave on holidays you may pay up for 3, 6, 9, 12 or 15 months. No worries. Govt only too pleased to take your money. We also don't have roadworthy inspections which makes things even easier.

Cheers
