Canning Stock Route

We intend to travel the CSR from Wiluna in June/July on our return from Perth to Toowoomba. We have a Nissan Patrol and Kimberley Camper. We are experienced 4WD and have read all the advice on the CSR. We note that trailers are not allowed on part of the CSR and a diversion is necessary. We are comfortable with that. We have allocated 4 weeks for the trip.

We would appreciate any advice from those who have travelled the CSR with a camper trailer.

We would appreciate any advice.

We did the CSR in 08.
Take your time. The track is very corrigated and will probibbly only get worse with the amount of traffic.
Read post 65096 for additional info.

Regards and have a great trip.

T&P

The same applies to your post on the Simpson. If you feel your vehicle is struggling then lower your tyre pressures another 2psi down to 16 and 12. The dunes on the approach side for a south/north crossing are normally chopped out. Same technique applies on the CSR as for the Simpson. If you find that, for whatever reason, you cannot cross a dune, then drive along it until you find a suitable place to cross.

Do you have enough fuel? You can double your fuel usage for desert driving as compared to normal dirt road driving.

(Last year I managed 29/100 from a 4.2 diesel in the rough stuff of the Great Sandy Desert with a trailer in tow)

Are you carrying enough water? You cannot rely on the wells of the CSR for water due to a variety of reasons

Enjoy the deserts. Its a great experience!

You may have a readhere of our north south 1994 CSR solo trip. Have done part CSR's on another two occasions and will be doing another part crossing in June this year from the north.

Cheers
