ARB Fridges

I see ARB have released their own Fridge, how do they compare to what's already on market.

Are they basically same components back badge differently.

Buck-meister,

if you do a search you'll find heaps. Yep it's an Engel with an ARB badge.

Cheers Mick.

P.S. Some 4x4 Rag that will rename nameless did a comparo within the last 12 months as well.

Actually, the original ARB was a rebadged Engel (with the Sawafuji compressor). The latest is claimed to have been custom designed by ARB to meet Aussie user's needs. It is a 47 litre fridge/freezer, using a Danfoss compressor (like the one used in Waecos). RRP is $1199. Look at the ARB website for more details.

Hiya Lenticular

I also read this over at Overlander, heres an excerpt from a thread..

the new one is made by Dometic, a subsidiary of Electrolux whereas Engel is made by Sawafuji in Japan (who made the old range of ARB fridges)

I had a look at one on Saturday. Looks very much like a Waeco to me. Look at the vented area where the compressor is.....just like a Waeco.

As long as it works I say.
When I bought my fridge I was tossing up between the Engel 40L and Waeco 40L. I spoke to a friend who repairs fridges and in the end I decided on Waeco based on his reccomendation in that value for money if far better on the Waeco.

You get what you pay for in terms of fridges. I had a mate who just got one from ALDI, believe it or not. Reckons it's good for the price. See here for some of his thoughts about it.
