I am looking at putting a cargo barrier in my 100 series but it can only go in one position [ behind normal backseat position ] because of the air cond. setup in the roof for the back of the vehicle. Barrier Dealers say that I would have to do a mod [ maybe illegal for Insurance ] to be able to move barrier forward when seats are folded up. Anyone know of any solutions. Geoff SA

I dont know the answer but as to the insurance issue I dont know how and why any mods to a cargo barrier would have any affect on insurance.

...except for any incidence where it will affect the safety equipment already fitted to, or part of the vehicle, or the crashworthiness of the vehicle itself - including safe egress of occupants.
Pretty sure it has and can be done to other vehicles.

Why don't you go to the manufacturers
Milford Industries and pose the question to them. They are after all the major manufacturer in Oz of such equipment. Perhaps they might be willing to 'custom build' one for your requirements.

I have two Milford barriers in my 100 series.
1 is in the normal rear position and I have removed the second row seats completely( and its complianced)
The second on is right behind the front seats and is attached by slightly longer bars at the top and onto the seatbolt holes at the bottom.
I installed a 10mm ply floor from that back to my set of Drawers.
As i have a washing machine and Waeco in this part I needed the rear barrier to stop the stuff on top of the drawers from sliding forward.
I discussed this with Milford and basically their answer was any deviation from standard voids warranty but did not say about insurance.
I would say that most cruisers would exceed the conditions of use cos how many people only have a max of 60kg behind it (come on)
I reckon that if I roll it two will be better than 1 anyway.
I have a friend who has a V8 with rear air and had a Milford barrier installed by the local ARB and they altered it to fit without blinking an eye.
A call to MILFORD would be the go.

milford make a barrier screen for that model 100, the difference being slightly longer top support arms

Look at the Outback cargo barrier.
I have one in my 2005 T/D cruiser and it has rear air.
Barrier is behind rear seats but rear seats can be folded forward
and Outback make a tray which fits in front of the cargo barrier & behind the folded rear seats.
This gives you a much greater flat storage area.
