Hi all,I have a 98 mod 100 ser diesel with an A/M turbo and I was wondering if I would benefit buying an 01 or 02 T.D gear box and transfer case as I have already built my box once and was told it was the smaller prado or hilux box and I would be better off with the later mod box which is larger and stronger, so what I'm asking is what I need to do the swap, I.E: box ,transfer, tail shafts ,coss members ? and is it a drama and are there any differences with ratios as in will I need to do diffs also?
Regards JB.

Best place to look for this information is:
LCOOL forum
Go to the 100 series section and enquire there as there are many on there who have done both engine and gearbox conversions.
The above post that mentions the R151 and H151 gearboxes is correct, but there is a few variations on what bellhousing, input shaft, and transfer case linkages may be required to avoid cutting extra holes in the floor.
I will watch this space as I'm interested also........
Please let us know how you get on.
Cheers,
Mark

Ok the box and transfer from a 4.5 petrol 100 is the one to get. If you were to buy an 80 series diesel box and transfer, it would also be good, but get later than 95 as the early ones had synchro problerms. The 80 box will also need a 100 shifter, hence the 4.5 100 box is better....you then need a diesel (turbo or 1hz) 80 or 100 series bellhousing for it and an fzj75 clutch plate to fit in the 1hz pressure plate.
1st, 2nd and 3rd are higher than you have, 5th is lower. You will be doing 2700rpm in 5th at 100 km/hr but it wont break.
