I see in the newspaper today that we’ll have printable solar panels within 5 years.

Apparently the CSIRO is using polymer (bank note) technology to develop the product.

The print method has been going for a few years now and a firm in Queanbeyan now called Dysol has developed it here and another firm in Queensland is bringing in Fabric printed Awning and shade sails with solar print on them fromthe USA.
The Dysol system I believe came formthe ANU.
You can buy educational samples on line .
The CSIRO has been involved with them for some time and the new CSIRO centre in The Hunter Steel River complex in Newcastle has a complete skylight wall on the roof made of Dysol Panels.

I have a friend who works at the CSIRO renewable energy and storage group and he said don't order just yet!! their lab units are still around 50mW and 1.5v ( .080Watts)

However he said that they are close to commercialising 10 Megafarad capacitors. I recall 47,000 microfarads when I was doing engineering and recently saw a 2 farad one at Jaycar. They are looking at phone / laptop battery type applications that charge in 10 - 60 seconds.

Gday Kim,
No good you getting something that flash.
You'll just roll yourself up in it at night and fry yourself.

Gidday Hairy

Yesterday I read another story talking about Prime Minister Dudd’s $27m commitment to eradicate cattle farting. Don’t know about you, but I’m excited.

All this flatulence is buggaring up my sensibilities and causing the clock to lose time. LOL
