Just spent 3 weeks in our
home town of Warragul after being on the road for just over 2 yrs. We caught up with Matt and Caz while they were in Shepparton which was good. It was good to see family and friends after such a long time. Anyway got a few things done on car and trailer while here ( general maintenance) and all was good. Heading of today to make our way up to
Cape York by June. Heading back from Dandenong last night and dash lights came on. Checked it out at auto elec this morning and alternator is stuffed, can't get one till tomorrow. Have organised for one in Sale and will get it put in on Thursday down there.
Why is that it always happens when you are about to drive out the driveway. No matter how much effort you put in preparing something always happens. By the time we finish our trip this car will be brand new with everything replaced. Be able to sell it as near new, only done one trip lol.
Keep safe and if you are still thinking should we do the big trip? The answer is Yes!!!!!!!!!

I agree, better that you can do something now rather than more hassle in the middle of no-where. My alternator brushes went between Innaminka and
Birdsville. I had to wait till Mt Isa before I could do anything!

In 2 years of travelling we have not got stuck anywhere with car trouble. Always been in town and fixed straight away. Does show that no matter how much prep you do something can always go wrong.

Hi Josh,
Your not the only one. On the Strez the Turbo dump valve broke open towed the van all the way back to
Toowoomba max speed 80km. Back of
Broken Hill somewhere the Radiator had a heart attack. Two days before our Tassy trip the fuel Injectors failed. Our last trip along the Great ocean road the dash lights came on. We made it to the Auto Electrics at
Murray Bridge 12.30 Christmas Eve. They organised for a new one to meet us at a servo on Port Rush Road. Had to fuel up while motor running. Kept preying all the way to
Gawler River don't stall don't stall. The uncles, cousins, dad and
John managed to fix that Christmas morning. Before getting to
Murray bridge the air con stopped so that was my first question when the new alternator was fitted. Thank god it just didn't have enough go go juice. We have broken two fan belts as
well. We always service it at 5000ks use genuine gear. Its now looking sad with the motor 320 on the clock out getting a rebuild. All these things were over the last two years. Not one of them required a tow truck just bush mechanics. I keep saying have them problems with a newer vehicle and and see what happens.
Shell nearly be a new car. Weve travelled most of the 4x4 parks in Se Qld, raced in rallies.
Mind you patents will run out if our trip to the tip in July gets stuffed up.
