Been busy all long weekend (WA) with daughters wedding so took the opportunity to catch up on old posts. Thread 66393 was an interesting read, thanks Doug. Mike DID commented that he drove up to the top of Mt Kosciosko in 1968. This caught my eye as myself and two mates touring Oz in a HD (1965) Holden ute did the same in the same year. Does anyone know if you can still do this. NO I am not interested in doing it again...... just wondering. We noticed that the ute was getting a bit breathless before we cottoned on to the fact that we were a fair bit above sea level.

No you cant drive to the top anymore.

Hi Pop,
Did the trip to the top as a passenger in my Grandfather's EK Holden back in 1961. I don;t recall much of the stop at the top except that it was very cold. Something you can't do now, more's the pity.
