Hey guys im in a bit of a pickle. I need some new rubber for my triton but the OE rubber is 265/70R16, which i have found out not many people make. BFG and Bridgestone LTD694. I wondering if i could put some 265/75/R16 tyres on? Something like a Mickey Thompson AT 4 rib?
Will there be enough clearance? I know that the GLXR is the same hieght as the GLS which are both a little higher than the GLX. Im getting an ARB bullbar put on, which appears to increase the wheel arch space.
So has anyone put 265/75R16's on the triton without a lift???
Cheers
Josh

I'm in the process of replacing my 265/75/16LT's on my Pajero this week. It has the same OE sizings....

The problem at the moment is that the increase in profile increases the OD by about 30mm, which is outside the current acceptable limit of 15mm (well here in Qld anyway).

Several posts have mentioned the proposed National Code of Practice which i believe allows up to 50mm. One poster from today (we should call it "Tyre Saturday") mentioned that Queensland Transport looks like it will be adopting this code from 1 July 2009, however it has been delayed already so i'm not holding my breath :-)

I wouldn't see the extra 15mm height (radius) being that close to being a problem with clearance, though others might be able to help with the answer.

G'day

I've got a MK GLS with 265/75/16 Cooper ATR's. the decal on the pillar says this is the correct size
I haven't done a speed check to confirm an accurate reading, but i haven't been booked yet either...lol

I've got a Bocar Alloy bar and has enough clearance as well.

You should be fine.

I have a 06 twin cab with ARB bar, i run Cooper ST's 265/75R16. Only had the smallest rub which is on one of the rubber mud covers when at full articulation, you hardly notice it. My speedo still reads ok, it is almost spot on with the GPS. That was when i had no lift.
Now have a 50mm lift and still no problems, i think the rub has now dissapeared.

Oh ok so it sounds like the tyres fit allright then, minus the slight rub. My placard says my tyres are to be 265/70R16, when you put the 265/75r16 do you just run the risk of a fine or get an updated placard thing?

The only reason i want to go the 265/75/r16 is all the different tyres i can get, current size limits me to BGFgoodrich (i bit dear for my likings) or the Bridgestone LTD694 which doesnt seem to bad but may let me down severly in the mud.....
But as you all know the 265/75/r16 have heaps of great tyres
eg. Coopers ST, STT then Mickey T's 4rib AT and MTZ
Cheers Guys
