Hi

I am looking at converting an old cabin tent into a camper trailer tent. The one sticking point is what to use for the hinge on the tent. I haven't been able to find where to buy any new or second hand hinges so it looks like a home made one is the only option. Any sugestions?

Hi Captain

I actually looked into doing the same thing about 2 years ago and ended up deciding to buy a proper camper 2nd hand tent section already made. Although it would seem a fairly simple matter to do the conversion, I just couldn't find the right sized tent and trailer combination. I figured i could pick up a tent for not much, + existing trailer and hey presto... cheap camper. As far as hinges go, I would think framework can be constructed using the same principles seen in commercial campers. Have you had a good look at what is around. They are nothing special. Good luck with your project.

regards Kc
