Help,

Everywhere I look for an application for a "beach permit" for the Tweed Coast, namely Pottsville - I reach a dead end.

I want to know how much it costs and 'where' can I apply.

Thank you,
Karin.

From memory it costs $20 for an annual permit and we got our first one from a sports store (mainly fishing tackle), at South West Rocks. So I guess if you look up a tackle store in Pottsville or surrounding area, give them a call and they should be able to help. Subsequent annual renewals are mailed to us from the Hastings Shire Council.

Thanks for your help. We're heading to Pottsville today - we'll call into a couple of local establishments and investigate the therory. We understand they are difficult to get and sometimes have to go on a waiting list. Finding out how to apply in the first place has been a task in itself.

Karin

I doubt you'll get one. The Council only issue limited numbers and normally got by the locals.

The beach is heavily policed, so if you don't have a permit, don't drive on it.

We're starting to think you're right about not getting one. But not being able to apply in the first place is frustrating. There is so much info on what you can and can't do and why - but no info on where to pick up an application form. We won't be going on the beach without a permit, just not worth the risk.
Thanks
Karin.

Trust me . . . my father in law is a local at Pottsville, and he is one of the lucky ones. Reports are you need to camp out at the office on opening day to get one . . . not sure HOW true that is though.
