Does anyone know how to give a 2.0l jackaroo a bit more power especially on hills?

I like the look of the jackaroo, but they stopped making them. Would be a nice second car.

They are a brilliant car pretty darn good on fuel to for a fwd. Currently on highway we get about 32mpg. But this has taken ages to get it that good after replacing everything and tuning it about a million times to get the best performance we actually got better fuel economy.
We use our jack as a main car and touch wood it hasn't let us down yet and we have put it through some times. We swapped it for our VW golf that we originally had and haven't looked back it was a bit of a change from the tiny little golf but I would never own a 2wd again. I think some people underestimate them the
places that they can go but trust me we have had to pull that many people out in
places we have gone with ease (including my brothers defender - maybe it was his poor driving habits)
Well yes I think they're great anyway

I built an intercooler for a customer earlier this year who is running a petrol turbo system on his Jackaroo here in
Melbourne and it's very impressive indeed. He tells me it regularly sees off V6 Commodores in a straight line and he's very happy.
He built the turbo system himself but needed an intercooler as he was experiencing detonation problems on warm days.
Regards Andrew.

Very interesting do you know how much it costs is there a kit to fit them yourself or did this guy make it from scratch. We did get a price for someone to fit a turbo he said it would increase power by about 40% but wanted to charge us $4500 we said a few words and walked out that is nearly as much as the car is worth what did he think we were

Hey man it's only 2L, how much power you want, steady increase---- open up the air inlet, fit a snorkle, better air filter--more open type I had good success with my 2.2 when i fitted a washable foam filter,

Ok, so the car is only worth $4500-5000.
Turbos are aroudn $3000 for a kit to do yourself.
The basic things are A good service to start with... Then try extractors, larger exhaust, air filter (snorkels dont give more power really), and lighten the weight,
Power sadly isnt cheap.

while the 2.6 rodeo injected motor would be the prefered option(it fits), the 2 lt motor is carby, we had a 2.3 one years ago at work, fitted extactors & full exhaust. removed original carby and fitted a 2 barrel Webber (carby was set uo by a performace place for the job) made a vast improvement in driveability.

Thanks for all the info have just finished changing over the cam it will go on the dyno this weekend if we can book it in. Will be getting a better air filter for it and yeah will see how she goes. The cam has already made a difference. We already have extractor and a high flow exhaust, rebuilt carby and motor so any other ideas would be great
