Just throwing this in in case it helps someone out there. Telstra has a $20 per month post paid plan with $5 of calls included and a NextG phone supplied, or $20 if you supply the phone. The big plus is that you get 1 hour of free time to any phone every day with a maximum of 20 minutes per call then you redial the number if you want to keep talking. You nominate the hour you want e.g. 6-7pm each day and it's based on the Australian state you are in at the time.

Might be useful for the travellers out there who want to stay in touch with family for little cost.

Cheers

You can also start a call at 1 minute to the hour at the end of your time and actually end up with 1 hour and 19 minutes of "Free Time"

I am signing up for the plan this week and was told you get $15 worth of free calls--not much but better than $5.I think you can also change the time of your nominated free hour during the course of the plan(24 months)

Yes , that is right ..$15..free calls..well $10 better than $5 ...free hour and you can change it whenever you like and if you travel with a laptop , a $10 for 150mb data pack per month will keep you on the net and at a very good speed....

Yes, We love My hour. Both my hubby and I have telsra mobile plans. We have the my hr 4-5 on one phone. For making business calls. And 5-6 on the other phone for personal calls. This way we have 2 hours to ring free every day. Its even better than using the home phone.
Gotta love free calls.
