About 3 months ago I posted a thread about a serious engine knock in one of our V8 traybacks.

Toyota have now repaired the engine and the vehicle is back in service.

Although they have given no explanation as to why the engine developed the bigend knock, they didn't hesitate in repairing it.

At that time 4 engines in Australia had developed the problem and to Toyotas credit they were straight onto it.

They must have had a through examination of the failure, as it took ages for the vehicle to return repaired.

I am wondering how you know there were 4 engines in Australia with the the same issue. Especially when Toyota wouldn't even give an explaination of what the issue was.

Was it a big end knock or sounded like like a big end knock?

Came from one of our fitters who picked it up and reported it. They then sent the vehicle of site.

He did his time with Toyota and knows the odd person here and there who said they had 4 vehicles around Australia that had done the same thing.

Yes the knock was bigends, not injection or a disco going on inside the engine, just plain old broken.
