Hi,
We are currently heading north from Forster to
Cairns (6months) in our Jayco Expanda, just waiting for Pacific Highway to reopen. We have
young kids with us and are looking to get an annex made up before we get to the warmer weather, to keep the mozzies out and the kids in. Could anyone recommend a type of annex supplied north coast NSW or south QLD, that is not too expensive and that will do the job. Are the ready made ones any good?
Matt

you'll be lucky to get one made for under $12/1400 depending on size. I'd definitely go for one of those gazebo things from kmart. $70 or so, lighter, easy to put up and does the job. We've had annexes with all our vans and for the first time have decided to go without. So far after 18 months, we don't feel any need. We still have the kids and the awning is fine - we only use the gazebo if really necessary. Lots of other vanners doing the same - where d'you think I got the idea?

We had one made last Jan at Coffs Canvas in
Coffs Harbour.
Very happy with the quality and the price.
Cheers,

We are on the road full time and currently at
Emerald Beach near
Coffs Harbour, in a 21,6 Supreme Territory.
Contact Aussie Traveller at their head office in
Brisbane.
They make an excellent product.
We had our full annex and side skirt made by an Aussie Traveller agent Complete Canvas at Penrith (Peter Dale) and he came out to Lane Cove Caravan Park ,measured the van. A week later we drove out to Penrith and over a couple of hours he did final adjustments and then spent further time running us through how to erect it. The service provided was absolutely fantastic and the annex is an excellent product. The week delay was because annex is mostly made at Aussie Traveller in
Brisbane.
I suggest if you go direct to Aussie Traveller in
Brisbane you wont be sorry.
Goodluck.

Matt,
The actual
Kakadu annexes that Jayco sell with their campers/caravans etc are made from a company in Qld. From memory and dont quote me they are somewhere near the
Gold Coast. Do a google search on
Kakadu annexes qld and they should come up. Heaps of options on their website for canvas choices etc and I think you can order before hand and only takes about 3 wks to make. As they supply to Jayco all the time I am sure they would have the dimensions for your expanda model on file. We were going to buy a Jayco Swan brand new and looked into the annexes etc back then and found all of this out then. From memory I think they can fit any tracks etc in a day as long as you book ahead.
Cheers JG
p.s Heading north on 15th June 09 from
Newcastle on a trip around oz with our 2 kids (ages 2 & 5) as
well. Enjoy your trip....
