We have stayed at Middle Lagoon, about half way up Cape Leveque, which is very nice. They do have specific camp sites, powered and unpowered. We have not stayed at Kooljamon, so I can't comment about staying there specifically.
Keep in mind that you will probably need to book.

They have a small number of campsites which are probably fully booked out. And no there is no camping on the beach either. They do have some huts down on the beach though that you can camp in. Another alternative would be Middle Lagoon.

You can definitely camp or have a camper trailer at Kooljamon. It's a little pricey but what you expect up north. No caravans however!

There is a very nice place at Middle Lagoon too. (Turn left about 10Km nth of Beagle Bay turnoff. 32Km to coast.) Also Quondong point, nth of Broome is nice too.

Cheers

Russ.

Hi, we camped at Kooljamon but we got "told off" by the staff since we didn't make a booking beforehand - they still managed to squeeze us onto one of about a dozen vacant lots! LOL

If we are ever up that way again, we would stay at Middle Lagoon. A very nice place, and the people there treated us like they actually wanted people to stay!

We too would recommend middle lagoon, we would go up to kooljamon for a day trip, including lombardina and one arm point. However we wouldn't try and stay at kooljamon. We made a special trip back up there after booking one of those rustic beach shelters only to be told that they dont take bookings of particular sites,( which the week before they were happy to accept) that they can just put us anywhere thats available on the day, which was opposite a sandy carpark away from the beach. They could not understand why we were not happy. The officious lady in the office even charged us the extra $10.00 again for us to have a swim before leaving. They must win their tourism awards for the natural beauty of the place not for customer service.

Cape Leveque resort (Kooljamon) has a small camp ground to self camp, 3 man tents on decks for hire, elevated ensuit tents (apartments) for hire, beach campertrailer sites with thatched shelters for hire. There are dongers, rooms & resturant. All requires booking more tha 2 weeks in advance. The resort charges $10 for a day visit permit thats worthwhile for a look around.

About 8 - 10km to the east is an aboriginal families bush campground known as Gambanan (spelling??) they charged $30pn for two adults in 08. (the whole peninsula is exy) There was tin shed flushing toilets and cold showers a long walk or short drive away due to relocation of campsites to water front views. There was a couple from Newcastle there as campground hosts that were great people. The aboriginal family (and I mean all of them lol) join you around the campfire for some great interaction. They will take you tinnie fishing for a fraction of what the resort charges. You will see the coral exposed at low tide and whale if in area. You can take a short drive to the local sites/places from there. By all means stay at Middle lagoon going in or out and dont go past Lombadina community and there magnificent beach (no camping) for another $10 permit Its worth it.Beagle bay is worth a look for the church. The road was only 90km of unsealed in 08.
