Hi everyone,
I have done as much research as I can but not having much success. We are doing a camping trip to the
corner country form Maclean this school holidays. Hoping to make
Bourke day one but am travelling with another couple who have 4 children so that might be pushing it. So was wondering if anyone knows of a safe place to
camp along this road we could use.
Thanks in advance
Barb

In the Camps 4 Book, there is one called
Four Mile Campground, located 6km East of
Brewarrina, (98km E of
Bourke), via Carinda Rd
Beside the Barwon river.
Has
Toilets, showers, tables, fireplaces and allows pets.

I'll second that. I spent two days there last month and could have spent more. Facilities are very basic but are all you need and the location is beautiful.
I was directed there by a very helpful aboriginal man working in the tourist centre in town. The map he gave me was nowhere near to scale and it was a bit further out than it initially appeared. If anyone goes into the centre, ask to see the DVD on the aboriginal story about how the river was formed and discuss the history of the fish traps. They had anything up to 5000 people gathered there at certain times of the year for periods stretching back thousands of years.
