My RA (118000 Klm) has oil comming out of the Turbo intake pipes at the joins. I think I read of this earlier on this Forum. Any comments? Or should I not worry about it as the Mechanic I consulted advised me.

Cookie & Di - Personally I would worry about it. Its not a place that oil is supposed to come from.

Did the mechanic give you a viable opinion as why not to worry? - seems strange to me. cheers Tony

The oil has come from the blow by hose which comes out of the tappet cover and goes into the air in take between the air filter and the turbo. This usually happens because of a restriction in the air filter. This first happened to me when I fitted a Unifilter sock in the snorkel in junction with a Unifilter in the air box, this cause a restriction and the turbo sucks harder pulling the oil out of the blow by tube. It is a pretty common situation and most people fit a catch can into the tube to catch any excess oil before it gets into the air pipe.
You will probably have oil in the intercooler as well which should be cleaned out as well, hope this has helped and it is not a major problem just fit a catch can and check it when you do a service.

How much oil, a couple of drops or 3 Lts.?

Are you noticing it on the dip stick?

Recently I have noticed the same on my Prado....3.0TD 1KZ-TE.

Ater the intercooler there is a large pipe coming down. This pipe has what seems to be an oil leak seeping out & the pipe surface is collecting dust....

12 months ago I had a Safari Snorkel fitted.....is this related to the Rodeo issues?

Not being able to see it I can not give an exact prognosis, but it just could be a loose hose clamp. All turbo diesels with an intercooler will have some oil in the cooler. I would suggest taking it to your dealer or a turbo specialists and I am sure they will tell you that it is not a problem, but do it to satisfy your self.
